The Goddess: Who is She?

\"goddedd\"Last week I wrote about women ageing (Goddess doesn\’t age) and it spurs a lot of questions.

What\’s a Goddess anyway? How to move from \”fear of ageing to the pleasure of blossoming\”? So I thought I will carry on this discussion and offer more thoughts on this matter.

Goddess, who is she?

The word \”Goddess\” is being used a lot but I believe it comes down to something very simple.

First let\’s start with the definition I found in the dictionary:

1. A female being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people.
2. often Goddess A female being believed to be the source of life and being and worshiped as the principal deity in various religions.
3. An image of a female supernatural being; an idol.
4. Something, such as fame or wealth, that is worshiped or idealized.
5. A woman of great beauty or grace.

From this definition, I would like to extract the points that I believe are keys…

Supernatural powers: We do have magical powers but too often we dismiss, neglect or undermine them. Giving birth. A huge one… Intuition. Healing touch. Seduction (yes ladies!). Connection with Mother Nature and her cycles…

Source of life: Yes we are.

Great beauty and grace: Each woman beauty and body is an unique masterpiece, an unique expression of the Divine Feminine, poetry in motion. Contrary to what the media try to impose on us, there is no one standard of beauty. There are as many as there are women.

Worshiped: Show reverence and adoration for..

And this is where I want to spend time and elaborate. For me, a Goddess is a woman who loves herself completely. Who shows reverence and adoration for the very experience of being alive, who treasures and celebrates the gift of being a woman, the blessing of carrying life, the magic of being a healer, the capacity to create harmony, beauty and love in her heart, her home, her community.

A woman who understands that she\’s the source of life and has a drop of the divine in her. Who respects and honours her gifts and the privilege of being an unique expression of the Feminine.

She owns who she is with grace and gumption. Body, mind and spirt. From head to toe. With her flaws, mistakes, fears, gifts, passions and qualities. She savours life with passion and pleasure.

This woman isn\’t in fear. She\’s IN LOVE. She is confident, loving, open. She worships herself. She worship others. She worships life. She is magical.

You see, such a woman doesn\’t age, she blossoms.

Awakening the Goddess within: you are sacred

Life is sacred right? You are an unique expression of life right? Better yet, you bring life into this world, right?

SO YOU ARE SACRED. Start owning. Savoring it. Living it.

Do a life assessment and review: the food you eat, the people you spend time with, your space, your wardrobe, your relationships with yourself – body, mind, spirt, your work, your love life… For each area, ask yourself \”what change can I make to treasure more myself?\” \”Am I honouring the sacredness of the woman I am?\”
